Useful Batch Image Processors for Windows

BIMP Lite (Win, free)

BIMP

BIMP Lite is a compact, small and simple Windows-application which performs batch processing at its best. The tool allows you to create thumbnail images, add a prefix/postfix (with meta variables such as image width, image height, sequential number etc.), rename using a sequential number, change the case of filenames, replace/remove spaces & underscores, flip or rotate images and also apply anti-aliasing, inverse, greyscale and bevel effects. An FTP-Manager is integrated as well.
The thumbnail resizing allows you to force a specified width or height and keep the proportions, or define fixed image dimensions. In addition, the program can also convert the file format to GIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, MIFF, TIFF, PCX or TGA. All of the actions can be performed individually, or combined. BIMP Lite is freeware and contains no spyware.

Phatch (Mac, Windows, Linux)

Screenshot Phatch3d
Phatch (which is a combination of the words photo and batch) is an open-source batch photo editor that can be used on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. Phatch features an excellent user interface that’s easy to use and understand. What makes the tool different from other batch image processors is its extensbility. If you know Python, you can create Phatch scripts to perform some common Phatch actions on the fly.
Phatch handles all popular image formats and can duplicate (sub)folder hierarchies. It can batch resize, rotate, apply shadows, perspective, rounded corners and perform 35 further actions automatically. The Phatch website has extensive documentation and also allows you to install specific extensions. Because of Phatch’s excellent documentation, any user from beginner to advanced will find the software easy to use and extend.

DBP – David’s Batch Processor (Linux, Mac OS X, Win)

Dbp FileSelector
David’s Batch Processor is a Gimp plug-in that performs batch editing functions on images. Instead of having to download a separate program, Gimp users can simply call the plug-in from within Gimp. The user simply selects the images that he or she wants to resize and creates a quick ruleset that will process the images.
However, the plug-in is only intended to resize RGB images, not indexed images. The plug-in is licensed under the open-source GPL license.

Image Converter

Image Converter Exe

Image converter.exe is a free image converter that is set up slightly differently than other batch processors in that it offers a Conversion Wizard. The Conversion Wizard allows users who don’t have much experience with batch image processing to quickly and easily convert and rename images.

FastStone Photo Resizer

FSResizerScreenShot
FastStone Photo Resizer is a fairly robust image processor. The software is free for home users and runs on the Windows platform. It offers a nicer graphical interface than some of the other image processors and also supports droplets.
The tool can convert and rename images in batch mode, resize, crop, change color depth, apply color effects, add text, watermark and border effects and rename images with a sequential number.

Pixillion Image Converter

Pixillion

The Pixillion Image Converter can convert just about any image file type, including PDF. It has a few nice features that other batch image processors don’t have, like allowing you to right-click an image and resize it from anywhere. Pixillion is a free application for Windows users. (al)

Converseen

Converseen is an open source project written in C++ with the powerful Qt4 libraries. Thanks to the Magick++ image libraries it supports more than 100 image formats. You can convert and resize an unlimited number of images to any of the most popular formats: DPX, EXR, GIF, JPEG, JPEG-2000, PDF, PhotoCD, PNG, Postscript, SVG, and TIFF.

With Converseen you can save your time because it allows you to process more than one image with one mouse click!

Converseen is very simple: it features a very simple user interface without strange options. Download

Author Information markup using URL parameters for Google Search Result

Now Google displays author information in search results to help users discover great content. If you want your authorship information to appear in search results for the content you create, you'll need a Google+ Profile with a good, recognizable head-shot as your profile photo. Then, verify authorship of your content by associating it with your profile using either of the methods below. Google doesn't guarantee to show author information in Google Web Search or Google News results
  1. Create a link to your Google+ profile from your webpage, like this:
        <a href="[profile_url]?rel=author">Google</a>

Replace [profile_url] with the your Google+ profile URL, like this:
       <a href="https://plus.google.com/116872859277692064298?rel=author">Google</a>

Your link must contain the ?rel=author parameter. If it's missing, Google won't be able to associate your content with your Google+ profile.
  2. Add a reciprocal link back from your profile to the site(s) you just updated.
          1. Edit the Contributor To section.
          2. In the dialog that appears, click Add custom link, and then enter the website URL.
          3. If you want, click the drop-down list to specify who can see the link.
          4. Click Save.
  3. To see what author data Google can extract from your page, use the structured data testing tool.
If you don't want your authorship information to appear in search results, edit your profile (using http://plus.google.com/me/about/edit), and make sure the Profile discovery option Help others discover my profile in search results is unchecked.

Author information not appearing

Google will only show authorship in search results when we think it will be useful to the user. If your authorship information isn't appearing in search results, use the structured data testing tool to verify that Google can extract authorship information from your page. (This tool also presents other information that you may ignore for the purposes of verifying authorship markup.) If the tool shows that Google can correctly detect authorship information on your pages, check the following:

  • Profile picture Your Google+ profile picture should be a good, recognizable headshot.
  • Newly updated content It may take some time for authorship information to appear in Google web search results. Wait a few days and then check again.
  • Email address If you signed up for authorship using a verified email address, check the following:
    • Is your email verified? Is there a check mark next to your email address on your Google+ profile?
    • Does the domain of your verified email address match the site you are writing for? For example, if you verified "name@example.com", make sure that "example.com" is in the Contributor to section of your Google profile. Also, make sure that the Contributor to section is view-able by the public.
    • Does your article include a byline with your name? The byline should read "By <name>". <name> should match at least the first and last name on your Google Profile.
  • On-page markup If you added rel="author" links to your content, check the following:
    • Hidden markup Make sure that your rel="author" link is not invisible to humans using techniques like display:none or CSS. Broadly speaking, Google won’t display any information that cannot be viewed by humans.
    • Profile links To verify authorship, there must be a rel="author" link on the content page, and this link must point to your Google profile page. Your Google profile should have a link to the domain of this site in the Contributor to section, and this section should be public.

10 Wonderful Apps to Make Your Facebook Page More Engaging.

Nobody likes a Facebook Page that is unfruitful and boring least of all the people who pressed that ‘Like’ button. In This post I will share 10 wonderful apps that will help make your Page more engaging.
The Facebook Pages apps are just like the apps on your Facebook Profile, nothing tricky about it at all. If you manage a Page, I highly recommended adding apps from the list below to quickly and effortlessly make your Page more interesting.

Twitter for Pages: There are a few Twitter apps on Facebook however most of them break frequently or are made for Profiles and not Pages. However there is a good Twitter for Pages called Involver. It’s quick and easy to install, just add and you’re done. It’s a simple way to bring your Twitter stream into a tab of its own and keep people connected to your Tweets from Facebook.

Welcome Tab For Pages: Showcase just about anything in your Page, from profiles and businesses to products and upcoming events. It’s an ideal way to make a great first impression. It also comes with its own analytics and metrics, so that you can track and measure how your Welcome tab is being received and make adjustments accordingly.
Flickr: Showcase your photo stream with this pretty app.  Add it to your Page and the tab will display multiple collections. You can select either set or collection view.  It also plans to allow further customization in the future. There are 180,000 active users for this app and you can also add it to your profile. Just hit the, Add to My Page button.

Eventbrite: If you host/promote  events, then you should consider adding this app. It’s created by the online event management and ticketing services company of the same name and publishes an event tab on your Facebook Page, with your event details and a link to buy tickets.  Additionally there are options to share/re-tweet the event in news-feeds and Facebook Profiles.

My Top Fans: This app shows you who your top fans are for your Page . The application analyzes interactions and calculates who is sharing and engaging the most with you. Having a ‘leader-board’ acts as a reward for active fans and encourages competition from other members to increase engagement to get to the top spot. However make sure that before you publicly display your top fans that people won’t be deterred by it.

Web Profiles: Showcase all your social media profiles with Web Profiles. It has 180 different networks and so likely to have all the networks you are a part of. However if your site is more obscure than common you can instantly add it and feature it in your customized compilation.

My Countdown: Great for building up excitement around new product launches, fancy events, give-aways or just about anything that you have going on with your company. My Countdown can be added to any Page very easily.  Its appearance and icons can also be customized to match your brand.

DivShare: Unlimits you from the content you can share. Instead of only sharing just links, DivShare allows you to attach MP3s, images, videos, documents and just about any other type of file that you can think of. You have the option of posting shared files to your Page, adding them to your news feed or choosing to share among groups of people or individuals. Max files size is 200 MB, which is a more than ample file sharing size.

Fan Appz: Fan Appz application is comprised of sub-apps of polls, sweepstakes, promotions and coupons and more. There’s even a convenient gift store that you can set-up to monetize your Page with brand merchandise that people can buy. The advantage of Fan Appz is that instead of having to install individual applications for each one of these functions, you get them all in one central location. This is for the serious social media marketer.

Static FBML: This app is found on almost every single must-have Facebook application list and I must also add it. It’s great and lets you customize tabs and content on your Page and transform it into part of your brand. There is a downside though, you need to have some hacking skills (HTML, CSS and Facebook Markup Language) to that you can create the code needed for the content display.
